About East Taieri Preschool

The team of qualified and experienced teachers are passionate about children's learning and development and enjoy working with families to create the best educational opportunities for children during their time at Preschool. This learning is documented in each child's profile book, which becomes a valued record of a child's time at Preschool.

Alongside the wide variety of activities offered to the children each day within the programme, East Taieri Preschool children also enjoy many activities out in the community such as walks to local parks, preschool trips to exciting places in and around Dunedin, 'Wheels days' and school visits, just to mention a few.

Well-resourced and with great support from the community, East Taieri Preschool can offer a wide variety of development opportunities for the children, including a wide variety of art experiences; numeracy and literacy development; and a large outdoor environment that encourages children to develop their physical abilities.

Community Based

East Taieri Preschool is run by a governance committee made up of preschool parents.  

The AGM is held in July each year when there is an opportunity for new parents to be elected.  There are various roles on the governance committee including: president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, marketing & publicity, special projects, and property management.  The group meets approximately 8 times per year.  We also have a 'friends of Preschool' group who help with fundraising, shopping, coordinating parent help, running special events etc.  This group meets a few times a term, usually over a coffee at a local cafe.  The preschool is well supported by families/whanau and the wider community, ensuring that East Taieri Preschool continues to be well maintained and resourced.
